Amanda and Mark got married last August at the Florida Aquarium in Tampa in front of a 500,000 gallon fish tank! They, along with their 60 guests had the entire Aquarium to themselves. And as Amanda put it…it was awesome!

What was your theme/colors and what inspired it?
Pool Blues Ivory & Silver. The colors were inspired by the venue. We wanted a beautiful under the sea look. And the silver was for the color of the fish scales and reflection of the moon on the water.
What was your favorite Etsy find? My bouquet.
It was so original and exactly what I wanted since I am not a flower kinda girl!
What creative (DIY) or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
I did a lot of things myself. I loved my silver boxes with our favorite candies inside. Wrapped with a blue ribbon and a white starfish glued on top! Everyone loved them! And my centerpieces I did myself. I took tall cylinders and put seashells on the bottom and a party light inside. Then took a single white orchid and put inside. It was perfect for the tables since everyone could see each other and fit in with our underwater theme. Plus we were in front of a HUGE fish tank. So it worked! For invitations we had messages in bottles. They were soo cute! They had sand in the bottom and little shells and our invitation rolled up. And then a seashell box it was in. It really helped set the tone of our wedding.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Relax. Take your time. And do a lot yourself.
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Before our daughter walked down the aisle as our flower girl, we had penguins walk down the aisle! And the sparkler send off was a lot of fun too!

Today’s wedding took place last May at the Darwin Botanic Gardens, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Bride Desiree first learned of Etsy through the wedding forum Australian Wedding Central.

What was your theme/colors and what inspired it?
Our wedding theme was Fusion (Indian + Western) to incorporate both mine and Matt’s cultures (I’m Singaporean Indian and he’s Australian). The colors were red, white and light gold, inspired by my Indian background.
What was your favorite Etsy find?
It’s a tie between the silk flowers and the shoe clips! The seller for the silk flowers was just amazing. She was very patient and customized it to suit my wedding entirely. The shoe clips are my favorite as well because I can re-use them whenever I want
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Walking down the aisle and seeing my husband’s beaming smile.
What creative (DIY) or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
- Table numbers – I created our table numbers using photos of our 3 pets and the word ‘love’ in different languages.
- Handmade individual guest cards that were completed and compiled in a DIY guestbook.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Compromise!

Today’s lovely wedding was sent in by bride Sando. She and new husband Kevin were surrounded by 150 friends and family when they married on May 15th in Wilmington, North Carolina. Sando was introduced to Etsy when a high school friend opened a shop called ApplesModernArt. “She would post her beautiful creations on Facebook” explained Sando. “ From there I was introduced to the amazing world of Etsy and I was instantly hooked!”

What was your theme/colors and what inspired it?
Our colors for our wedding were ivory and black with splashes of hydrangea green and blue. I guess what inspired these colors was just the timelessness and elegance that ivory and black have when paired together. Our venue was gorgeous by itself, so I knew I did not want to take away from its character.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
We wanted our wedding to be simple, elegant, and oodles of fun! So I think going with those attributes, we wanted to add personal touches that were unique and true to our personal style but staying within tradition. My mom and I joked many times while planning our wedding how our wedding was “traditionally untraditional.” We wanted all the aspects of a traditional, simple wedding but with our own twist and personalized details added! We are both teachers so I think our attention to details rained supreme when it came to adding those touches. There’s just something so special about having handmade things that is so personal and feels so carefully crafted. One of my favorite personal aspects that we added to our day was our Wedding Tree. We are so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful friends and family, that we really wanted to some way to constantly be reminded of those influential people who make our lives so special. I love the idea of a guest book, but didn’t like the idea of closing that book and not seeing those names anymore once the day was done. So lucky for us I stumbled upon the Wedding Tree idea and of course found exactly what I was looking for on Etsy! Now our Wedding Tree hangs proudly on our wall in our dining room!

What was your favorite Etsy find?
All of them! Some of my favorites included: the calendar ring pillow, the infinity rings for my bridesmaids, the programs, the personalized handkerchiefs we got for our parents, and the headband we got for our flower girl.
What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Shop Etsy! Etsy really made planning our wedding so easy and so much fun! We live in MD and got married in NC, so being able to sit on our couch and browse gorgeous, custom items for our wedding was wonderful!
And most importantly seriously relax and have fun with all of it! I had such a blast planning our wedding that I think the best advice I could give to anyone is to enjoy each moment of the planning process, and remember that no detail is too little! If it matters to you, it’s important!
What is the most memorable moment of your day?
There were so many memorable moments of our day; it’s hard to choose just one! But I guess if I had to choose I would say when Kevin and I snuck away from the reception for a bit and we walked down to the water and everything just sunk in. We were walking up and down the boardwalk looking out over the Cape Fear River at sunset. There was a cool breeze blowing off the water and I remember Kevin turning to me and saying “Hello Wife.” And I remember just the most amazing feeling of happiness wash over me. It’s an amazing feeling when everything that means the most to you all comes together harmoniously. For us it was the simple things, great food, gorgeous day, amazing friends, loving family and the feeling that this was just the beginning.

Today I have the pleasure of sharing a vintage glam chic wedding with you. Tracy and Brandin were married in front of 40 of their closest friends and family at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay, Jamaica. “We love old movies” explained Tracy when describing how she and Brandin chose their wedding theme. ”We actually got engaged outside the Brattle Theater in Cambridge after a 16mm old film screening of my favorite movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” So we tried to incorporate a vintage glam feel to our destination wedding. My dress was champagne and very old Hollywood; I had vintage crystal pins in my bouquet and vintage crystal buttons on the bridesmaids’ bouquets. Our programs used vintage print paper. We used different vintage looking crystal and pearl picture frames for table numbers, antique looking miniature pewter chairs for placeholders, ‘It’s A Wonderful Life” picture book to sign yearbook style as opposed to a guestbook. Our first dance was to an old Bobby Darin song”.

What is the most memorable moment of your day?
Walking down the aisle and seeing my soon to be husband waiting for me!

What was your favorite Etsy find?
I definitely got the most compliments on my hair flower, which was beautiful, but I loved my flowers. They were so unique- they were made of silk, vintage lace, the extra fabric from my dress, with vintage crystal pins. So gorgeous and unique. I didn’t have to worry about wilting tropical flowers and I can keep my bouquet forever!
What creative (DIY) or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?
Created pre travel brochures, packets and cds sent to all guests. Created welcome bags for each guest with travel mugs, first aid kits, snacks, etc. Used iron-ons to make my own bride hoodie and “Just Married” tank. Created all the placecards, table numbers, and other signage. Took pieces from other ceremonies, poetry, etc and created our own unique ceremony.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?
Stick to your guns about what you want and what says you as a couple. A lot of people expected us to do a tropical themed wedding – bright colors, island inspired favors, etc because we were having a destination wedding in Jamaica. But we kept with the vintage glam old Hollywood theme that fit us and everyone was blown away at all the details and how well everything came together. My other advice- take a deep breath and enjoy! You miss the planning after the wedding is done.

Tracy, thank you for sharing the details of your day with us!
